Fayetteville Fury is excited to present a new development opportunity for aspiring soccer players through our participation in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Premier Division. Q. Will there be open tryouts for the Fayetteville Fury UPSL team?
A. Absolutely! We're hosting an open tryout on Friday, Feb 10, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Selected players from this tryout will advance to our assessments scheduled for Feb 12, 13, and 15 from 6:30 to 8 PM. Location: 4644 Clinton Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28312
Q. Is there a cost to try out?
A. Yes, the tryouts are $35. If selected, there is no cost for the assessment.
Q. Are these tryouts for male and female players?
A. At present, our UPSL team tryouts are specifically for male players. However, we are equally committed to fostering opportunities for female players. We are excited to announce that selections for our USL-W team will be happening soon, offering a fantastic platform for talented female players to showcase their skills and be a part of our dynamic women's team. Stay tuned for more details on this upcoming opportunity.
Q. How many players will be selected for the initial Fayetteville Fury UPSL Player Pool?
A. Our goal is to select a pool of 30 talented players.
Q. What does it cost to be part of the Fayetteville Fury UPSL team if selected?
A. Commitment, skill, and determination. Being a part of our team is a privilege and there are no financial obligations for players selected into the pool.
Q. Could you explain the "Pool" selection process?
A. In UPSL, teams operate with a 'pool' of players. The match day roster is selected from this pool based on weekly training performance and readiness.
Q. Is there an opportunity to join the pool at a later date if not initially selected?
A. Yes, performance and commitment levels are continuously assessed. Players may be added or removed from the pool based on these criteria.
Q. How many players are named to the "Match Roster"?
A. UPSL rules allow for 20 players on the match day roster, with a maximum of seven substitutions per match and no re-entry. This means that of the 20 players rostered, only 18 may get playing time.
Q. Is equal playing time guaranteed for all 18 players in a match?
A. Playing time is at the discretion of the coaching staff and is based on the needs of each match. Players may experience varying amounts of playing time.
Q. What is the extent of travel for the team?
A. The team will compete in the UPSL Mid-Atlantic Premier Division, involving travel within North and South Carolina.
Q. Are travel and accommodation expenses covered by the team?
A. Players are responsible for their own transportation and accommodations for away matches.
Q. Will there be new uniforms for players, and is there a cost?
A. Players will be provided with all necessary uniforms by the club at no additional cost.
Q. Can players from the 17U-19U NXT teams participate?
A. Yes, those players can play for both teams, with schedules adjusted to accommodate UPSL commitments.
